Commonly Asked Questions about the adopt an acre and adopt a reef programs

How will my money save reef and rainforests?
Working in partnership with conservation groups like The Dry Forest Conservation Fund and The Nature Conservancy, funds are used to protect coral reefs and purchase habitat. Money also can be used for in-country educational programs, research, protection and monitoring of marine and terrestrial environments.

Why are rainforests and coral reefs important?
We rely on rainforests and coral reefs in ways we are only just beginning to understand. Reefs are the breeding and spawning grounds for food for much of the marine life and for many commercial fisheries. Rainforests play a significant role in the maintenance of weather patterns and the supply of fresh air  and water. Both ecosystems support the highest percentage of biological diversity on earth. Many of the foods we eat daily and medicine we use come from rainforests and coral reefs such as chocolate, coffee, bananas, mangos, and vanilla.
